Twitter Battle (Champions Trophy)
With India winning the twitter battle we hope they win on the green grounds too.
INDIA VS PAKISTAN: PREVIEW
It’s ‘The Day’. The day when everything becomes a second priority on the list of the two Asian super giants. The day that holds the mystical magnanimous power to unite an entire nation. The day when more than a billion eyeballs are glued to their television sets.Yes, it’s the mother of all games - India vs Pakistan on the 4th of June.
The history of India-Pakistan rivalry dates way back to the partition and till date is used as a political tool by the two countries which affects the diplomatic relations between them.
The pre-match rituals are in place as shots have been fired from both ends. From Pakistan we had Imad Wasim bantering about how he’s confident that Pakistan will beat India because he’s there in the team, whereas from India we had Sehwag taking a dig at Pakistan by calling them ‘Bete’ during live commentary.
While it’s a common notion that India enjoys an unprecedented victory streak against Pakistan in all the ICC events, it is far from truth. In reality, Pakistan have the upper hand with a 2:1 lead if we look at the past head-to-head clashes in the Champions trophy.
The sides first met at Edgbaston on September 19, 2004 where Pak chased down a target of 201 with 4 balls to spare. The next encounter was held at the Centurion on September 26, 2009 and was a rather embarrassing one for team India. Chasing a huge total of 303 back then, India could only manage 248 before they got bowled out in the 45th over itself. However, team India served a fiery revenge when the sides last met in 2013 and they were back at Edgbaston, where this rivalry had commenced. Bowling first, team India rattled through Pakistan’s batting order and reduced them to a paltry score of 165 and chased it down comfortably with 8 wickets to spare later on.
This time though, the encounter seems evenly poised where Pakistan might have an upper hand considering their recent performance in the West Indies and the overall past performance on the English pitches. Nevertheless, India has the aid of more match-winners in their side who can outperform Pakistan on the given day. Whatever the scenario may be, the match is bound to give some heebie-jeebies to over a billion people worldwide.
You can watch the match live on Star sports 1, Star Sports Hindi 1 and Hotstar from 3:00 pm IST onwards on 4th June, 2017. You can also watch the match live in the stadium if you have the tickets (I highly doubt though).
