War of the planet of the Apes Lead Cast : Apes - Andy Serkis as Caesar, Steve Zahn as Bad Ape, Karin Konoval as Maurice, Terry Notary as Rocket, Ty Olsson as Red, Judy Greer as Cornelia, Caesar's wife, Max Lloyd-Jones as Blue Eyes, Devyn Dalton as Cornelius, Sara Canning as Lake, Michael Adamthwaite as Luca, Aleks Paunovic as Winter, Alessandro Juliani as Spear, Toby Kebbell reprises his role as Koba from Dawn, appearing in hallucinations by Caesar.
Director: Matt Reeves
The third installment of the blockbuster franchise shows Caesar and his apes being forced into a deadly conflict with the ruthless colonel and his men. With this movie, director Reeves has managed to balance the commercial and technical demands of the movie flawlessly. The movie even reminds me of the sheer brilliance which was once seen in the likes of legendary filmmakers David Lean and John Sturges.
WARNING: For a movie rated PG-13, WFTPOTA has some intense violence rarely seen in this category.
While War For The Planet Of The Apes has hardly revealed any details of its actual plot, there are some tid-bits that sneak in from the trailer and teasers. Getting Greer and Konoval back as their respective characters upholds the reputation of the franchise. At the very least, we know that when we see Andy Serkis does his motion capture handiwork in the next sequel to 2011's Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, he'll be doing it with utmost perfection.
While we shouldn't expect Judy Greer's Cornelia, or any of the other apes to be speaking just yet, they might be seen uttering syllables. The title of the movie might be the greatest key to what could be happening in Matt Reeves' new installment, as it indicates that the conflict has just started. Whatever scenario Reeves and his team have built to feed our curiosity, least we can hope is that it'll give Judy Greer more screen time than she's had in any of her film appearances this year.
