Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)

Twitter has gone gaga over the sassy young lad, the academy award nominee for the movie ‘The Impossible’, who has managed to impress one and all with his web-slinging superhero skills. This movie marks Tom Holland’s second appearance as spider-man after his debut appearance in the global super-hit, Captain America: Civil War. Initially, he tries to live a normal life with Aunt May under the vigilance of Tony Stark but hell breaks loose when the creepy Vulture sets up an illegal business of creating weapons from a new-found alien power source. As Peter waits for the school to end daily so that he can put on his swanky suit and fight crime, the desperate urge of him to prove himself as a superhero overpowers him creating troubles beyond his control.

The movie is so humorous that there’s hardly a moment when it fails to make the audience laugh. To be honest, if it wasn’t for the fiery, full throttle, adrenaline filled action sequences, I would have very well mistaken it for just another teen comedy.  A rather worldly obscure thing about this movie was Robert Downey Jr. taking a backseat being reduced to a mere life advisor of Peter Parker. I found the love dimension of the movie rather passable as not much focus has been put into that.

FUN FACT: The movie has cameo appearances from several TV superstars so keep an eye for it when you catch the flick on your nearest silver screen.

My favorite part of the movie was the mini tribute to my all-time favorite, the all-time 80’s classic which has passed the test of times, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’. Apart from the that, the movie also features a fun and jolly school homecoming song sequence and a quote that this franchise has itself stood upon, “With great power, comes great responsibility.”

This movie is a sigh of relief after two ironically named ‘amazing’ movies.

Summarizing my movie experience in one line, I’d say ‘spider-man, spider-man, tune churaya mere dil ka chain ….ohooo..’
