A very gutsy move by our own comedy king Kapil Sharma choosing a very different genre from his comfort zone but seems like this audacious attempt failed quiet horribly.
It is a colonial-era story set in 1920’s about a bunch of villagers who take on the British. It’s a tale told by Amitabh Bachchan through his compelling style of narration, Kapil as Manga is an unemployed pumpkin who’s only talent is to cure backaches by delivering swift kicks on backs of people.
Manga is shown to be very naive character without a job or an ambition who believes that Englishmen are good people as they brought transportation to India in form of trains but his life turns around when he falls in love with a beautiful girl Sargi from neighbouring village played by Ishita Dutta and gets a job with a local British officer.
A good performance by Kumud Mishra as a cruel Raja Inderveer Singh goes in vain as the movie was so stretched out that you needed someone on the adjacent seat to wake you up.
This movie was not quite an independence movement or freedom struggle film but was a sweet and simple love story which moved at a snail’s pace.
It is understandable and commendable that Kapil Sharma wants to do something different but even though he tried it looked like he couldn't stop himself from delivering the comic stuff.
The movie in spite of some funny moments was outright boring and you can’t expect anything more than a “Babaji Ka Thullu”.

Honestly @KapilSharmaK9 is the only one to be blamed for disastrous #Firangi. His off-screen controversies & huge ego has dented his common man's image. Its time for resurrection Kapil & we are with you.— Vivek Sharma (@TheVivekSharma) December 3, 2017
Movie #Firangi is one of the worst movies of 2017 I have seen off late. And performance by @KapilSharmaK9 was totally put off. Didn't look like he knows acting. He needs acting classes I guess. He is gud as a comedian only.— Shantanu Mishra (@shantanumis) December 3, 2017
