Synopsis

The movie captures the nitigrities if the small town Bareilly breaking the handcuffs of Bollywood and introducing the reality to the audience. This makes the movie more captivating.

All the three lead actors of the movie have played their role in a very different and unique manner. Rajkumar Rao fits exceptionally well in the role performed by him. The story is about a girl named Bitti (Kriti Sanon) from a small town, she is the only daughter of a sweet shop owner, Pankaj and his overly- traditional wife, Seema. Pankaj brought her up like a son and allowed her to do everything she wanted to whilst her mother was just the opposite and was after to get married.

Bitti being a rebel caught in the shackles of the narrow minded society. She smoked cigarettes, drank alcohol and thus was deemed as characterless and not marriage material. She did not meet the so-called requirements that the patriarchal society has set for a bride culminating into rejection from men that came to see her. Wearied by the circumstances she decided to run away from her house as she was a very straight-forward girl and did not believe in getting married at an early age.

While waiting at the railway station she saw a novel named 'Bareilly Ki Barfi', written by a lover about his lost love. Bitti, find herself in the character potrayed in the novel and in the process ends up falling in love with the author of the novel, Pritam Vidrohi. In desperate need to meet the author of the novel, Bitti manages to reach the office of Chirag Dubey (Ayushman Khurana), the owner of the printing press who printed the novel and is also actual author of the novel. But for some reason he chose to pose Pritam Vidrohi (Rajkumar Rao), a saari salesman as the author thus giving way ti a comedy of self created errors.

A love triangle, thin script and top notch performances make this a decent watch for the weekend.
